First Communion

First Communion FAQ

In order to give parents more information about 1st communion and 1st reconciliation we traditionally have a parent meeting following the school year opening mass. The mass is at 6:30pm and the meeting is in the hall at approximately 7:45pm. The dates changes each year as the start of Religious education changes slightly. See more below:

    • Retreat Permission Form

    • Annual Calendar for both CGS and 1st communion

    • Retreat outline

    • Copy of prayers children are to learn this year

    • Wednesday night CGS (Catechesis of the Good Shepherd) classes

    • Extra sessions – to be held in the hall on Monday evenings for five consecutive weeks prior to 1st communion

    • Please reference the Religious Education calendar for the extra classes.

      • These sessions may not be able to be made up so please unless there is a family emergency or if your child is literally unable to participate due to illness, please don’t miss them. You are also encouraged to join us if you can. This way you will know what has been taught and know how to follow up to reinforce the lesson with your child at home.

  • Our Father

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For yours is the kingdom, the power, and the glory, forever. Amen

    Hail Mary

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen.

    Glory Be

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end, amen.

    Act of Contrition

O my God, I am heartily sorry for having offended Thee, and I detest all my sins because of thy just punishments, but most of all because they offend Thee, my God, who art all good and deserving of all my love. I firmly resolve with the help of Thy grace to sin no more and to avoid the near occasion of sin. Amen
